Atlanta based artist Silent Child — real name Rodney — is currently putting out some of the best music of his career. From the songwriting to the sound design, Silent Child has not only formulated his own unique sound but his energy and direction are bold and unmatched. It’s been exciting watching him flourish into the artist he is right now but we’re even more excited to see where he goes in the coming years. As his own writer, producer, and engineer… the potential Silent Child possesses is limitless.

“This song is about my caution for the future based on past damage. When I started making music, it began with me thinking I was a god. I would make anything and believe that it sounded amazing. A rude awakening hit when I sent my music to actual professionals and would get bombarded with destructive criticism and told to quit. That idea sunk in my head long enough for it to be a permanent feature of my personality. I almost gave up on my dreams and I’m a heavy victim of self-loathing/doubt. But I stuck with it only because I knew that one day, I wouldn’t hate myself or my music anymore”.

Not only did we find the new song unique in its own design but it’s safe to say it’s one of the few genre-blending records—that we’ve come across this year—that feels powerful enough to stand out on its own. Or in other words, AWAY is paving a new path for himself sonically and creatively, which ultimately, will inspire the many artists who will choose to follow him in his footsteps.

And to us, that’s something worth paying attention to.
