WHAT THE ARTIST HAS TO SAY:

“Sadness is like a costume that you can’t take off. Being in a long term relationship & grieving is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to navigate, especially when anger & confusing emotions are displaced onto the other person. It almost sometimes seems easier to leave & isolate yourself so you don’t have a negative impact on the people closest to you.” — Molly Moore

Playmate, a song by Olive B on Spotify

One of our favorite songwriters just released a new song, go stream Olive B's 'Playmate' now

May 17, 2019 by Gems Secrets in Bedroom Pop, Contemporary R&B, Pop, R&B, Electronic

Listen to this song in our official Spotify playlist: ‘Discovering The Undiscovered’

WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

Olive B landed on our radar with her collaborations with house producer Bobby Love. So naturally, when we found out she released her own single, we were pretty excited to check it out… and upon hearing it, we were blown away.

Olive possesses a very passionate and metaphorical writing style (which was what initially grabbed our attention with her past material). Her lyrics are a work of art and cut deep into the soul and reveal what makes each of us human. It’s honest and reflective and there’s something special about the energy she reveals throughout her music that one simply can’t ignore.

Her voice is soft and angel-like as it dances around the instrumental and you can’t help but get lost in a daydream whenever she starts to sing. So kick back, close your eyes, and enjoy this for what it is. Simply amazing.

Olive’s EP is scheduled to be released May 29th so don’t forget to connect with her online to be the first to check it out. Enjoy!

WHAT THE ARTIST HAS TO SAY:

The song was inspired by a relationship I was in, where I felt fully committed to this person, and eventually, it became one-sided. He didn’t seem to care about me, but he put more effort in when I acted the way I thought he wanted me to. The song is split between a vulnerable submissive side and one where I felt powerful and comfortable with being myself. At first, writing this track was emotional, but the more I started writing the more empowered I felt. — Olive B

PATTERNS, a song by NASAYA, Sara Diamond on Spotify

Have you checked out NASAYA and Sara Diamond's latest yet? Stream 'PATTERNS' now

May 14, 2019 by Gems Secrets in Electronic

WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

Have you checked out NASAYA and Sara Diamond's latest yet? Titled ‘PATTERNS’, we immediately fall in love with the tone and ambience of the track. Everything from the kick-drums, to the guitar licks, to the warm base-line. The record feels both calming and inspiring.

It’s nearly impossible to get sick of and with every new listen you find yourself falling deeper in love with the various electronic elements of the track. It feels natural and easy to follow along with and we love the cinematic nature behind the sound design—it’s easy to dream when the soundscape of a song is as beautiful as ‘PATTERNS’ is, believe us.

But things only get better as we move on to the vocals. Sara Diamond delivers a jaw-dropping performance from start to finish. Her voice dances gracefully over the drums and adds a layer of confidence to the record that only compliments NASAYA’s production style (in the best way possible). These two artist’s really outdid themselves and we mean that wholeheartedly. From the lyrics, to the instrumentation, to even the mixing. This is a solid track from start to finish.

To us, this is an instant classic and without a doubt one of our favorite collaborations we’ve heard all year. We think it’s safe to say we’re already looking forward to hearing more from the two in the coming months (well, hopefully).

WHAT THE ARTIST HAS TO SAY:

“‘PATTERNS’ is the first track I wrote after moving to LA. I was actually sleeping on my friends couch around the time I wrote the first demo. I’m quite attached to this song, I feel that it captures this new period of my life that was just beginning.” — NASAYA

In a scene filled with generic producers, Travis Drews thrives on bending genres and… just making good music. Armed with a sound that draws influences from future bass, funk, and trap music, the up-and-coming producer continues to disrupt the EDM scene by performing both DJ sets and with a live band. Travis’ relationship with bass music began in 2012, when both of his lungs collapsed due to the air pressure from the subs at an EDM festival. Despite this injury, Travis still decided to dedicate his life to making music in the same year. The talented DJ/Producer began as a turntablist based in Austin, Texas, where he quickly became a go-to in the local Hip Hop and Electronic scene. Casual T has enjoyed success by performing at X Games 2015, Official SXSW Showcases in 2016 and 2017, and Waterloo Music Festival. The His debut EP, “Lovers?” is set to drop in 2019, which will soon be followed by its sister EP, “Fighters!”. Kick your day off with this insane indie-electronic track from Casual T and Viben, stream 'Bath?' here

May 09, 2019 by Gems Secrets in Electronic

WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

Teaming up once again, Casual T and Viben present ‘Bath?’. A sensual indie-electronic inspired record with a complex melodic structure driven by powerful punchy kicks. The ideal track for fans of experimental drum-heavy productions.

The track itself packs a punch but the vocal production brings a rather hypnotic tone to the record that you can’t shake off. It’s both mysterious and exciting. We love the creative direction behind the track and even more the unique blend both of the featured artists bring to the table.

WHAT THE ARTIST HAS TO SAY:

"Bath?", just like every other song on the "Lovers?" EP, is about a girl.  It was inspired by a very romantic night that I had in my studio's bathtub.  I won't say her name, but if she's reading this, she knows who she is.  Miss you. — Casual T

Drifting, an album by Thomas White, Lia on Spotify

Thomas White and Lia release indie-electronic inspired 4-track EP, stream 'Drifting' here!

May 07, 2019 by Gems Secrets in Electronic, Indie

WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

Wow, wow, wow… available today, Thomas White and Lia present ‘Drifting’. An indie-electronic inspired 4-track EP with a unique and creative touch. Not only are the track widely unique, the flow from each track are completely seamless. Fueled by lush soundscapes, dark undertones, and a wide range of electronic elements… there’s so much to love that you’ll find yourself re-listening to the EP over and over again.

Produced by Thomas White, singer/songwriter Lia, adds a lyrically stimulating touch to the EP that brings everything together. The imagery and writing style produce a wide range of emotions and you’ll fall deeper in love with the project with every listen. Check out what Lia had to say about each track down below and enjoy!

WHAT THE ARTIST HAS TO SAY:

“Duality is the main inspiration for this EP. When Thomas White sent me Feather and Drifting I immediately fell an intense feeling of warmth and lightness. Writing about my first love was only intuitive.

Drifting is about period of time when we had to be apart for 4 months only shortly after we started dating. The main hook is “Tell me you’re no simulation, spell me out every vibration from your lips till I’m kissing you again.”; I wanted to communicate how it’s hard to gauge who a person is in the virtual realm - a circumstance that I believe leaches into many relationships these days.

I wrote Feather about totally embracing being in love - touching on the delight and some of the anxiety that it causes to become deeply entangled with someone.

Villain and Petrified are obviously about darker subjects: being wronged, misjudged, having to hold your heart back... pairing these four songs together exhibits two extremes on the spectrum of emotions in relationships, delivering sweetness & bitterness that anyone can relate to.” — Lia

April 15, 2019 by Gems Secrets in Electronic, Pop

WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

We were thrilled to hear that Kinder released a new single last week and upon hearing it for the first time it did not disappoint. Since landing on our radar just over a year ago, we were immediately hooked to Kinder’s sound. The sister-electronic duo are behind some of our favorite dance tracks and for good reason. Their energy is un-matched and their sound goes above and beyond the cliche of what your typical dance track sounds like.

The girl’s have a unique writing style that infuses the best of pop and electronic music together. ‘No Sleep’ is without a doubt some of their best work yet and it only gets better with time. bad at love, a song by RVRB on Spotify

Stream RVRB's new single 'Bad At Love'

April 08, 2019 by Gems Secrets in Indie, Electronic, Contemporary R&B

WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

We have some really exciting releases that came out over the weekend and to kick things off we wanted to share with you this new single from the multi-talented RVRB. Titled ‘Bad At Love’, we were immediately drawn in by the artist’s vocal style. Not only is it catchy but the lyrics point at a deeper reflection that we found inspiring and honest.

The instrumental blends the likes of R&B with indie-electronic elements to keep the song interesting. A sound that very few artist’s can pull off and we think you’ll agree. Go ahead and give it a spin and you’ll be singing and humming along in no time. Don’t forget to connect with RVRB online to stay up to date on any upcoming releases and enjoy!

WHAT THE ARTIST HAS TO SAY:

“‘Bad At Love’ is a very personal thing that we all can relate to. When something special ends, there’s always a moment of reflection where you ask yourself what went wrong. It’s easy to point the finger and blame it on anything other than yourself, but at the end of the day it has to come back to you. It’s self deprecating in a way, but to me there’s so much hope in this song. You have to be honest with yourself and be able to say listen, I know I’m not easy to love all the time, but I promise I’m trying…

…At the end of the day isn’t honesty all we really ask for?” — RVRB
